Stephanie Hazen, a retired veterinarian and passionate conservationist, has a deep-rooted love for wildlife and pollinators. After a career serving small and exotic animals, she retired in 2012 and moved to the countryside with her husband, Ray Temple, east of Salem. Her fascination with monarch butterflies began in 2017 when they first visited her yard. Her photos and videos documenting this experience were featured in the Statesman Journal (link). Inspired by this encounter, Stephanie began advocating for monarch conservation through presentations and distributing milkweed seeds. A Master Gardener and Master Mellitologist since 2018, she now collaborates with local growers to provide native plant seeds at community events, promoting habitat restoration for pollinators.
