Join the Luckiamute Watershed Council for a Field Day with Dragonflies!
Spend the afternoon exploring the vibrant world of dragonflies and damselflies at J2E Tree Farm. Guided by local Odontologists Cary Kerst and Jim Johnson, we’ll visit three unique pond habitats, learning about Odonata life cycles, habitat requirements, netting techniques, and species identification in the field. This hands-on event includes short walks between scenic pond sites, interactive ID sessions, and plenty of time to observe these fascinating insects up close. Perfect for naturalists young and old, and anyone curious about the critters that call our wetlands home.
We’ll also hear from the landowners, Dave and Sarah Ehlers, about their work to support beneficial insects and pollinators of all kinds. Jim and Cory will help us catch dragonflies and damselflies during our visit, and guests will learn how to ID and distinguish a variety of Odonata species. |
