Love Your Watershed: Fall Bird Walk

Join the LWC and Salem Audubon for a birding excursion at Luckiamute State Natural Area's South unit!

During this bird walk, you will join LWC staff and Salem Audubon members on a walk around the diverse habitats found at Luckiamute State Natural Area's South unit. We hope to see a wide variety of birds as we journey along oak-lined paths, open fields, and pond habitats! In addition to birding, the West Pond offers a chance to glimpse sensitive species such as the western pond turtle. Whether you are a bird expert or new to birding, you will be sure to enjoy this fun and interactive event, and walk away with some new tips and techniques for identifying birds by their songs!

Note that this event will involve walking about a mile along a mixture of paved and unpaved paths, so make sure to dress for the weather, wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes, and bring your water bottle. You are also invited to bring a bag lunch and a lawn chair for an optional post-event picnic, weather permitting.

Don't forget to bring your binoculars and, if you like, your favorite bird guide!
