The LWC is looking for volunteers to help spread grass seed and straw at our Floodplain Reconnection project site at Luckiamute State Natural Area! Now that the earth-moving phase of the project has been completed, we are looking for help in seeding this area with native grasses.
This volunteer opportunity will be spread out over two three-hour days in early October, and will involve walking along uneven ground with a seed spreader, raking the surface of the ground and spreading straw over the seeded ground.** Attendance each day will be limited to six volunteers, masks will be required by all participants, and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Before each activity, you will receive instructions by LWC Project Manager, Jean-Paul Zagarola.
Please sign up below if you are interested in this opportunity, and we will contact you soon with more details and driving directions!
**You are encouraged to bring your own work gloves. However, if you need to borrow a pair of gloves please check the box on the sign-up sheet and we will be happy to bring a sanitized pair for you to use. We will have enough seed spreaders and rakes available for you to use on site, but you are welcome to bring your own as well!
