Join Luckiamute Watershed Council and Marys River Watershed Council for an evening at the Historic Whiteside Theatre with Beaverland author, Leila Philip! Leila will explore the complex relationship between beavers and humans - past, present and future. Audience members will have the opportunity to participate in a Q & A session after the presentation, and Leila will also be available to sign copies of her book.
Don't have your own copy of Beaverland yet? No worries! Doors will open at 5pm, with Grass Roots Books - a locally owned, independent Corvallis bookstore - selling books at the event. The presentation will run from 6:00 - 7:30, but we invite you to come early and stay late to mingle with Leila, watershed council staff, friends and community members while enjoying popcorn, movie snacks, beer and wine - all available for purchase at the Whiteside Theater concessions!
A big THANK YOU to Grass Roots Books, a locally owned, independent bookstore in Corvallis, for donating 10% of book sale proceeds during the event to the Luckiamute Watershed Council and the Marys River Watershed Council!

About Leila Philip: Leila Philip is the author of award-winning books of nonfiction that have received national glowing reviews. In addition to Beaverland: How One Weird Rodent Made America, Leila has written several other critically acclaimed masterpieces, including In The Road Through Miyama and A Family Place: A Hudson Valley Farm, Three Centuries, Five Wars, One Family. A Guggenheim Fellow, Leila has also been awarded fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities. She works across genres, publishing poetry, essays and theatrical script and is currently at work on a documentary film. She was a contributing columnist at the Boston Globe and teaches in the Environmental Studies Program at the College of the Holy Cross where she is a professor in the English Department.
