Support the work of the LWC!

"We recently witnessed a group of otters frolicking in the Willamette at Independence. Later, we saw a green heron stalking the shallows of the Luckiamute where shoals of small fish dappled the gravel. Life! Thank you for helping it endure."
- Henry H., Friend of the LWC

Join the Legacy Circle

You can help protect this special place we call home by joining the Luckiamute Watershed Council Legacy Circle — making an enduring contribution to the LWC through a philanthropic tool known as planned giving. It’s a remarkable type of deferred giving that can help you make a larger gift than you ever thought possible while at the same time receiving significant tax and financial benefits. Click here to find out how you can provide a legacy of watershed health for future generations.

Ways to Give in Retirement

Many of us like to give during our lifetimes, typically by writing the occasional check to a favorite qualified charity and claiming a deduction on our annual taxes. But recent tax laws have doubled the standard deduction, sharply curtailing the number of filers who itemize, and therefore, who are able to deduct charitable gifts. However, if you’re a retiree over the age of 70½, there is a mechanism that preserves the tax benefits of giving, even though you might no longer itemize. This mechanism is known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution, or QCD. Click here to find out more.
