Join the LWC and its partners for a tour of the River to Ridge Diversity Project at the J2E Tree Farm. Explore firsthand the efforts underway to revitalize the land, from vibrant wet prairies and riparian areas to scenic pine flats and upland prairies. Discover the rewards of restoring a healthy ecosystem that benefits both humans and wildlife!
Tour Logistics
During the check-in process, tour participants will be divided into three groups of 20 people. After the introduction and wet prairie restoration site visit, each group will rotate through three different stations located throughout the tree farm, including the upland prairie, riparian & pine flats, and instream restoration areas. Project partners and local experts will talk about the restoration work happening at each station, and field questions from the participants. Schedule

**Note that this event will involve walking approximately 2 miles along mowed paths and gravel roads, as well as through some areas that may have bumpy, uneven terrain. Please make sure to dress for the weather (including raingear), wear comfortable, waterproof, closed-toe shoes, and bring your water bottle. You are also invited to bring a bag lunch and a lawn chair for an optional picnic lunch after the tour.

About the Event Leaders:

Mike Albrecht is a retired forester and small woodland owner who enjoys hiking and observing wildflowers (Benton Small Woodlands Association Past President).

Brian Bangs is an Aquatic Ecologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Aquatic Resources Division, and is stationed in Corvallis.
|
|
Aubrey Cloud is the Project Manager for both the Luckiamute Watershed Council and the Marys River Watershed Council, and has 8 years of experience in riparian ecology and restoration.
|
Dave Ehlers is owner and manager of J2E Tree Farm and serves on the boards of both the Luckiamute Watershed Council and the Benton County Small Woodlands Association.
|

Jody Einerson is a retired Outdoor Education Coordinator for Oregon State University Extension Service's 4-H Youth Development and Forestry Programs in Benton County.
|
Jarod Jebousek is a Partners for Fish and Wildlife Biologist for the US Fish and Wildlife Service and works out of the Willamette Valley National Wildlife Refuge Complex in Benton County

Tyler Roberts is a Restoration Ecologist for the Institute for Applied Ecology's Habitat Restoration Program.

Donna Schmitz is a Resource Conservationist with the Benton Soil & Water Conservation District, and has over 30 years of experience in natural resource management.

Suzanne Teller is the Outreach Coordinator for the Luckiamute Watershed Council, where she has worked for over 10 years helping to connect community members to their watershed.
