Volunteer Safety Guidelines

During COVID-19
  • Stay Close to Home: Only sign up for events within your community. This is a great time to limit your volunteering to your local community!
  • Pre-register online: Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for volunteer events and fill out volunteer waivers before getting to the volunteer site. That way we can avoid the use of shared pens and clipboards on site.
  • Take care of yourself and each other: Volunteers are required to have a mask at all events, wear gloves when handling shared equipment, and maintain a minimum of 6 feet of distance from other volunteers, staff and LWC contractors during the volunteer event. For indoor events, a mask must be worn at all times. For outdoor events, a mask must be worn whenever 6 feet of distance cannot be maintained between you and another individual.
  • BYO: Volunteers are asked to bring their own supplies, whenever possible. This includes work gloves, tools, water and snacks.
  • Handwashing: Wash your hands before and after the event.
  • Monitor your health: Stay home if you, or someone you have been in contact with, feels unhealthy.
Each volunteer event may have more specific instructions to keep you safe while volunteering. Before attending an event, be sure to review the event announcement or email for any further details or updates. You can also reach out to LWC Outreach Coordinator Suzanne Teller with any questions about safety measures. You can email her at Outreach@LuckiamuteLWC.org or you can call or text her at 971-312-7192

The LWC is excited to support volunteer events again, and we hope to support even more events in the near future. By adhering to these guidelines, you can help us reach our goal of supporting safe volunteer events that help protect the health of our watershed. Thank you!
