Event Safety Guidelines
During COVID-19
- Stay Close to Home: Only sign up for events within your community. This is a great time to visit natural areas and participate in events within your local community!
- Pre-register online: Event participants are encouraged to sign up for events and fill out event waivers before getting to the site. We will be limiting the size of many events and your pre-registration allows us to track our numbers.
- Outdoor Events: Masks are required to be worn regardless of vaccination status** unless six feet of physical distance can be consistently maintained. This means that at most events we will be wearing masks the majority of the time, so please plan to bring one and wear it. Masks are not required for children under five years of age, or during times when a person is actively eating or drinking.
- Indoor Events: All participants must wear masks at indoor events regardless of vaccination status.** Masks are generally not required for children under five years of age, or during times when a person is actively eating or drinking. In addition, we will follow any requirements of the venue at which the event is taking place.
- BYO: Participants are asked to bring their own supplies, whenever possible. This includes water and food, as well as binoculars, field guides, tools, masks gloves, and any equipment that will be used during the event. We will have some disposable masks available if needed, but we encourage you to bring your own whenever possible.
- Handwashing: Wash your hands before and after the event. We will provide hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes (we do not have a handwashing station on-site).
- Monitor your health: Stay home if you, or someone you live with has experienced any COVID-19 symptoms within the last 48 hours. Primary symptoms include fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, headache, muscle or body aches, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea. You should also stay home if you have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 10 days, or you are currently awaiting test results due to symptoms, or it has been recommended to you by a healthcare provider that you quarantine due to exposure.
Each event may have more specific instructions to keep you safe while participating. Before attending an event, be sure to review the event announcement or email for any further details or updates. You can also reach out to LWC Outreach Coordinator Suzanne Teller with any questions about safety measures. You can email her at Outreach@LuckiamuteLWC.org or you can call or text her at 971-312-7192
The LWC is excited to support in-person events again, and we hope to support even more events in the near future. By adhering to these guidelines, you can help us reach our goal of supporting safe in-person events that help protect the health of our watershed. Thank you!

**Please note: The LWC will not ask about participants' vaccination status or proof of vaccination, but will count on everyone to respect the guidelines and use their own best judgement. Remember, getting vaccinated is the safest and most effective way for all people in Oregon to get back to doing the things they love.
